Mangalore: Ex-Mayor K. Ashraf along with Son Arif and some Congress(DKCC)members, met the city Police Commissioner, Seemanth Kumar Singh, on Wednesday evening at the Pandeshwara CPC office, to clarify certain incidents connected (PUC)made by his son as alleged in news reports this week.
Arif faced charges of drug addiction, kidnapping a local college girl to Mumbai where he studied in a college, and even trying to convert her to Islam, as alleged by Arjun, her father who had cought her at Kankanady Railway station and dragged her back to home.
Ashraf asked Singh to fully investigate the ugly issue, establish the truth to all concerned, and thus save his “innocent” son Arif. Asraf provided a recorded talk between him and Arjun, who had stormed into Asraf’s house demanding to know who Arif was.
A Group of VHP and Bajrang Dal activists had also approached the CPC, with a complaint against Ashraf on the matter of religious conversion.
Singh informed all that the police were looking into both versions before him, and had questioned the Hindu girl’s friends on her drug habits. The girl (PUC student in SAC) did not make a statement yet, and no case was registered on the possible relationship, or an affair between her and Ashraf’s son, who studies in Mumbai, Singh added.
