Udupi: A case of reckless driving by a car driver, that too under the influence of alcohol claimed the life of a 13 year old girl. Her younger sister who was criticially injured in the mishap is presently battling for life.

The mishap took place near the Tenka Board School on February 24, Sunday afternoon when the two girls along with their family members were waiting for the bus to go to a function at Uchila. The speeding Alto car which was on way to Kumble from Mumbai, knocked them down. Locals beat the driver Moidin  black and blue before handing him over to the police.

The deceased girl is Sadiya Sadaf.Her sister Sayima Pawar (11) is battling for life at a hospital in Mangalore.

The parking of trucks unauthorisedly on either side of the road near the Tenka school, is learnt to have been posing danger to the lives of pedestrians.
