Mangalore : The members of Karnataka Dalitha Sangharsh Samithi staged a protest in front of Town Hall on April 30, Wednesday opposing the controversial statement delivered by Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev on Dalit community.
Addressing the protestors, DSS District Convener Raghu K Ekkar urged the concerned authorities to take legal action against Baba Ramdev for his offending statement on Dalits.
He also said that Baba Ramdev have insulted the Dalit women by using the words such as ‘honeymoon’ and ‘picnic’, hence the government must punish him under the provisions of law.
The protestors also burnt the effigy of Ramdev and performed his ‘last rites’, later the Dalit women garlanded his photograph with sandals.
Prior to the protest, they took out a protest rally from Town Hall to the DC office.
Later the protestors submitted a memorandum to the Governor through DC.
