Mangalore : The Khadi Expo organized by Khadi and Rural Employment Commission, Bangalore under the auspices of Prime Minister Self Employment creative Programme was inaugurated at Bharathiya Vidhya Bhavan on Jan 15, Saturday.
Speaking after inaugurating the 8 day expo, Mangalore MLA and newly elected Dy Speaker N Yogesh Bhat, said that the Khadi which was started by Mahatma Gandhiji must go forward.
He also said that, the manufacture of Khadi has seen many developments taking place in last ten years with the profit of Rs 25 lakhs development. The person with the minimum qualification of 8th standard can get trained from the Khadi Rural Employment and can earn their living. This is one of the best way to get self employed, he informed.
The exhibition has displayed wide varieties of handmade items from foot wares to creative wall hangings and other things. The things made by Khadi are available in wide variety. The Central Government is working for the welfare of the farmers and aim to not let them go away from their farm. He also said that, the state government aims to give good roads the State, he added.
Chief Guest Mayor Rajani Dugganna, said that, it is good to see the sale of products, apart from displaying various products.
Uday Kumar Holla, Organizer, District Margadarshi Bank of Syndicate Bank participated as the chief guest. Veerappa and Raghavendra Adiga were present on the dias. K V Raman, director, Rangabharati compered the programme.
