Kasargod : An activist of CPI(M)’s youth wing Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) was stabbed to death by a unidentified group near Seethngoli under Kumbla police station sparking fresh political friction between the rival parties.
Muralidharan (35), son of Ramankutty was stabbed by a four-member group as he, along with his friend was riding in a two-wheeler near Apasara Mill near Seethangoli at 4:35 pm on Monday, sources in Kumbla police station said. He succumbed to injuries on the spot.
The CPI(M), while accusing the RSS-BJP for committing the gruesome crime, has announced day-long hartal in Manjeshwaram and Kasaragod taluks on Tuesday to protest the murder.
Senior officials led by Superintendent of Police Thomaon Jose and DySP T.P. Ranjith visited the spot to evaluate law and order situation, sources said adding, no one has been arrested in connection with the case yet.
Political rivalry is said to be the reason behind the fatal attack on Muralidharan, who was an accused in a murder case.
Muralidharan’s body was shifted to Pariyaram Medical College hospital for carrying out post-mortem examination, they said.
