DYFI President Muneer Katipalla expressed his indignation over Karnataka CM Yeddyurappa’s unwanted magnanimity of providing housing plots (50x80Ft) from BDA for the Team India cricketers at a time when the flood affected people of north Karnataka districts and the homeless destitutes elsewhere had had no plot of land to call their own, nor a roof over their heads.
He was addressing rally of have-nots engaged in Someshwara Chalo movement from DYFI Pilaru and Kumpala units, demonstrating in front of Someshwara Panchayat near Ullal here on Tuesday (April5). It was a programme of submitting mass applications for housing sites at Someshwara.
He accused CM of misusing the world victory in Cricket by Team India to his own petty selfish ends for political publicity. He could not offer BDA sites to anyone under KHC orders. People should not fall for such gimmicks of a powerful CM who deceives them, Katipalla warned.
There was a public procession of homeless and deprived people in their hundreds, mostly women, from Kolya Narayana Guru Mandir to Someshwara GP office. Over 400 applications for free sites (and homes) were collected and forwarded through GP to the DK deputy commissioner for action.
KRRS leader Krishnappa Salian, DYFI leader D.Mahabala, Secretary Ashok Shetty, and many others were present. Local leaders led the protest rally.
