Mangalore : Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) in association with various organizations organized a jatha for 12 kilometres from Panjimogaru and staged a protest in front of Mangalore police commissioner’s office on March 26 Monday.
The protestors urged the police department to hand over the case of the double murder of a mother and a child in Panjimogaru to CCB, COD, or the CBI.
Reporetedly, Razia and her daughter Faima Zohra were murdered in broad daylight on June 28, 2011 in their house at Panjimogaru.
The protestors warned to hold an indefinite protest in front of the commissioner’s office if investigation proceeding do not progress in a week’s time.
Bharathi Bolar of Janavadi Mahila Sanghatane said that the broad day light murder has scared the people in the locality to move freely.
Dayanand Shetty, the DYFI secretary; Vasanth Achary, the CITU secretary; and Charan Panjimogaru, the SFI secretary, were also present.
Later the protestors submitted a memorandum to Seemanth Kumar Singh, the Mangalore police commissioner, urging proper investigation in to the case.
