Mangalore : A protest was staged in front of the DC office in Mangalore on May 24, Friday by the DYFI, SFI and Mahila Daurjanya Virodhi Vedike demanding strict action against ACP TR Jagannath who has been accused of harassing ASI Srikala of Pandeshwar police station.
Speaking on the occasion,Muneer Katipalla, State Vice President of DYFI said his organization has appealed to forest minister Ramanath Rai and health minister UT Khader to take strict action against ACP TR Jagannath. He said the harassment of ASI Srikala is indeed shocking.
Continuing, he said The ACP had also the backing of the former BJP Government as a result of which he had arrested a few innocents in the homestay attack case . He also questioned why the Mangalore Police Commissioner cannot take action against Jagannath when he had initiated action against a constable of Suratkal station for sending a vulgar message to a lady constable.
Saara Aboobakker, renowned writer, social activists Vidya Dinker, Merlyn Martis, Jeevan Kuttar and others spoke on the occasion.
A memorandum was also submitted to the DC by the protestors demanding action against the ACP.
