Mangalore: The Leftist Trade Union condemning anti-people policies of the Central UPA Government, have called a general strike on Feb, Tuesday, and the DK Dt. DYFI and SFI units took out torch-light rally in the city on Sunday night in Support of this nationwide strike to invite farmers/youths.
Inaugurating the rally at DCO gates, DYFI district leader Muneer Katipalla asserted that a national awareness was the need of the hour to teach a timely lesson o the Union govt. which was disregarding right of local laborers and giving a red-carpet welcome to foreign investors, even in agriculture and other economic sectors of national life for their benefit.
The strike call is given by 11 left /central trade Unions, having certain demands.
Sate and central Govt. employees, public sector workers, teachers, hamalis auto drivers and beedi workers would participate in a daylong strike on Tuesday.
Implementation of a minimum wage of Rs 10,000 a month is one of several demand. He appealed to farmers and youths to participate in the strike in large numbers.
He said benefits of economy were not inclusive of workers who raised industrial profits.
