Mangalore : The people under the banner of DYFI staged a mass protest in front of Mangalore City Corporation on October 24, Monday demanding to give the house to the houseless people.
Addressing the protestors, Muneer Katipalla, district president of DYFI said that today the government is giving lands to various land trades and not to poor people to give a shelter.
The Government has introduced various housing schemes in names of various leaders, but none of these schemes have reached to the people who are actual beneficiaries.
He said in 2003 Mangalore City Corporation announced to give the houses for the beneficiaries and also selected 600 beneficiaries from the 700 applicants, but lands were not given to the present day and the DYFI condemn the act of District Administration and State Government, he added.
He said that till now many protests were carried out were unheard by the concerned authorities. The agricultural lands belonging to the farmers are going to the hands of industrialists and private companies.
Government lands are being given to rich industrialist for black money and poor people are been cheated.
The state government is busy establishing developmental look to the state and the underprivileged people do not suit to its new look and hence they do not bother for the welfare of people.
The poor cannot afford pay the house rent due to the uncommon hike.
