Mangalore : Various organizations including DYFI, Student Federation of India (SFI), Janathavadi Mahila Sangatane (JMS) and Mahila Daurjanya Virodi Vedhike staged a protest, demanding CBI investigation in to Sowjanya rape and murder case in front of the DC office on October 9, Wednesday.
Prior to the protest, the organization conducted a vehicle rally was commenced from Belthangady and concluded in front of DC office.
Addressing the protesters, Kerala State Akhila Bharatha Janathavadi Mahila Sangatane president T N Seema, said that the Sowjanya murder case has not shown any development in the case, , but has shown the failure of police department in arresting the real culprit.
Seema said that the country which talks about protection of women has never reacted to fight for justice, indeed they are trying to wash out the evidence and save the culprits.
The police department has blindly arrested a mentally challenged person named Santhosh Rao and making him a scapegoat into the murder case. Hence the department on demand must hand over the case to the CBI for justice, she said.
JMS president Hemalatha, JMS secretary Kiranaprabha, DYFI President Muneer Katipalla, Secretary Dayanand, SFI State vice president Renuka Kahar and others were present.
