Mangalore : Eco Be Green in association with Jayashreekrishna Parisara Premi Samithi will host a ‘Campaign against plastic bags usage’ at Hotel Ocean Pearl on Nov 24 at 10 am.
Speaking at the press meet held at Press Club on Nov 21, Wednesday, Rtn Ananth Prabhu, co-founder of Eco Be Green said the event being organized to keep the city free from plastic pollution and clean up the city environment and introduced a plastic free drive.
He also said that Minister for Ports and Muzrai Kota Srinivas Poojary will inaugurate the event and distribute free cotton carry bags in the drive. Dr B M Hegde, former vice chancellor of Manipal University will be the chief guest. MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik and Sahyadri Educational Institutions Chairman Manjunath Bhandary will be the guest of honour.
The programme has been organized to educate people about the ill effects of plastic to the environment. The aim of the organisation is to make the coastal region plastic free.
On the occasion, reusable cotton carry bags drive will be launched and about 50,000 bags will be distributed freely top the targeted Malls, Cinema Theatres, Petrol Pumps, Temples, College Campus, Bus Stops and Railway Station for three months.
