Mangalore: An inaugural programme was held today Morning, of Ecol-art, an exhibition of Art and films on climatic changes, inaugurated by Mangalore University Vice-Chancellor Prof. T.C. Shivashankara Murthy, by holding a brush to paint a picture. He dwelt on the necessity of saving greenery and ecology for the next generation. It is due to pollution of water, air and greenery around us that we attract diseases, he said. To convey this fact, drawings are better than speeches for students to open their inner eye. This programme of films on ecology is arranged to inspire people in general and students in particular so that they develop an eagerness to protect the natural surroundings and not spoil it.
Dr. Ravishankar Rao, co-ordinator of N.G. Pavanje chair in Fine Arts welcomed the distinguished gathering.
Dr. S.M. Shiva Prakash made the opening remarks. Dr. Rameshchandra Bhatta was the guest of honour Ganesh Somayaji, founder of Artistes Combine, was felicitated on this occasion. Dr. Laxminarayana Bhat, principal of University College in Mangalore proposed a vote of thanks.
P.S. Puninchathaya, Founder of Kanchanganga Kalangana, Karadka conducted painting works. British Council of Chennai arranged the films on climate change for screening on the occasion.
