Mangalore : Sri Vishweshwar Teertha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt speaking at the press meet held at Srikrishna Mandir, Mallikatte on Dec 26, Wednesday said that the temple authorities decided to allow the practice in the wake of Supreme Court staying the modified “Ede Snana”.
He said that when the temple management asked to appeal the court for the ritual, Veerabhadra Channamalla Swamiji Religious Head of Nidumamidi Mahasamsthana Mutt said that it was a good job, but now he says that Vishwesha Thirtha Swamiji is more liberal than other pontiffs among the eight mutts in Udupi.
The introduction of Edesnana was made so that the religious sentiments of hindus would not hurt. If Ede snana was the ritual which would be an insult to the concept of offering Prasada to the deity, then people taking bath in River Ganga would also wash their sin, but would defile the holy river.
He also said that they would move to caveat in the Supreme Court, so that it would give a stay order and we have faith in Supreme Court that it would value the religious sentiments.
Speaking on the Nandikur thermal power plant, he said that the state government has no time to look into power plant problem and solve it, hence the people of the region must be united and fight against it. If the people come togatehr and go against it, then I will render support to it, he said.
Commenting on pankti beda, he said that Udupi Temple and Dharmastala Temple has both the mass feeding and the traditional feeding system. The people who do not wish to have a mass feeding will go to traditional feeding and no one is restricted he said.
