Mangalore: A prestigious City Club, the Eden Aquatic and sports foundation on Sunday organised an event called ‘The Eden Family Treasure Hunt – 2011 in city.
The first vehicle on the run was flagged off by Venkat of Mandovi Motors. 15 vehicles participated in the race held by Sumit S. Rao, for the club.
The route was set by Vinod D’souza, a rally navigator from 1980-90’s. There was an interesting quiz on Motor sports conducted during the present occasion.
The idea of Treasure Hunt was to encourage habits of safe driving on roads, along with rules of road Safety, and also to acquaint members in the Hunt with various landmarks of the city.
The maximum speed allowed for the race was 40 km per hours and the route covered had an approximate distance of 23 kms (close to a marathon).
Several companies like Mandovi Motors and Village Restaurant joined in sponsorship of this event. The prizes were, Rs 3000 and a trophy (1st) won by Arun K. and his team. Rs.2000 + a Trophy (2nd) taken by Shekhar Pujari team, and special Ladies Prize (Rs.1500 +Trophy) given to Naina Arun, and Rs.1000+Trophy to Manohar Amin team
