Mangalore: A speeding Eicher tempo was hit a six year-old school boy on Thursday, June 5 at Gurpur Kaikamba in Mangalore.

Rohit, who is studying in first standard in Our Lady of Pompei English Medium School, Kaikamba was waiting for the school van along with his mother the speeding tempo hit him this morning.

The boy rushed to a hospital with seriously injured. The driver of the tempo runs away from the spot soon after the accident.

The accident the news of the accident spread in the local, a large number of locals gathered on the spot. Angry locals set fire on tyres and blocked the roads. As the result a few hour traffic jam was in the area.

Tahsildar Manjunath arrived at the spot, but the angry locals demanded that the DC and the MLA and MP come to the spot.

Police rushed to the spot and are tried to pacify the protestors.

The Swamiji of Gurpur Vajradehi Math then came to the spot and spoke to the protestors.

Finally, convinced by the Swamiji’s assurances, the locals agreed to withdraw the protest.
