Mangalore : Muslims of the twin districts celebrated the festival of Eid-ul-Fitr with religious fervour on Saturday , July 18.
Hundreds of Muslims in the city, wearing the kurta-pyjamas, crowded places of worship for Eid prayers between 7.a.m and 9.a.m.
Muslim devotees offered the special Eid Namaz at Eid-gah located at Light House Hill, greeting and praying for each other. The festival marks the end of the Ramadan fasting and is a day that brings joy and happiness.
Mangalore Khazi Twaqa Ahmed Musliyar guided the Eid prayers and delivered the Eid message. Karnataka Health and Family Welfare Minister, U T Khader, exchanged Eid greetings with the Muslim devotees.
Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated on the first day of Shaw’waal which is the tenth month of the Islamic calendar.
Police have made security arrangements across the district to ensure peace and harmony during the festival.
In Udupi the Jamiaya Masjid , Indrali, Noorani Mosque Brahmagiri, Jumma Masjid near the City Bus Stand also seen crowded with devotees.
