Mangalore: A woman and a young man lost their lives due to electrocution in incidents reported from Mangalore and Kundapur on June 18, Tuesday.
In an incident reported from Pumpwell Ujjodi, a woman named Sunanda Bhandari (52) lost her life when she was electrocuted as soon as she switched on the grinder at home. The incident came to light when her son Avinash, an engineer with MESCOM returned home. As there was no response from inside, he peeped through the window to see his mother lying on the floor. The door was broke open and Sunanda shifted to hospital where she was declared brought dead.
In another incident, Prashant Kulal (22), son of Narayan Kulal from Kumbaramakki Jeddu, Kolkebail,Shiriyara village of Kundapur taluk, died of electrocution when he was repairing the power line of a primary school at Shiriyara. It is learnt, he was electrocuted as he did not check whether the electricity was flowing in the line or not.
He worked under an electrical contractor named Eshwar. Kota police have registered a case.
