Mangaluru : The handing over of the management of the Mangaluru International Airport to the Adani group and the inability to retain Vijaya Bank which was founded in the district have proved that the BJP government and its elected representatives have completely neglected the development of the district alleged District Congress Spokesperson Badagannur Muhammad.

Speaking to media at the Congress office on November 4, Wednesday, he said the various issues confronting the district have not found a solution despite the district having an in-charge minister. He also deplored the condition of the Highways and said it reflected the failure of the BJP. There are attempts to privatise New Mangalore Port too, he alleged.

Congress leader Abhishek Ullal who also spoke strongly condemned the insult meted out to senior scholar and retired JNU Professor Dr Purushottam Bilimale by all of a sudden cancelling the International webinar on Tulu at Mangaluru University College. He also questioned the silence of the ABVP in this regard.

He further demanded a thorough probe into the alleged discrepancies in the appointment of Syndicate Members to Mangaluru University and also allegations of misuse of power.
