Mangalore : Newly appointed ministers as well as elected representatives took part in an interactive session on ‘Partnership and progress of coastal Karnataka’ held under the aegis of Rachana, a forum of Catholic businessmen and entrepreneurs, at Bishop’s House on July 6, Saturday.
The session saw discussion on various aspects pertaining to the development of the coastal districts.
A memorandum highlighting the various demands pertaining to development of the coastal region, was submitted on the occasion to Ramanatha Rai and Vinaykumar Sorake, District in-charge Ministers of DK and Udupi respectively.
Some of the demands include six-laning of Mangalore-Hassan highway, separate railway division for Mangalore, tourism development etc.
Vinaykumar Sorake who spoke on the occasion assured all out efforts on the part of the government to contribute to the growth of the districts.
Ramanatha Rai in his address, assured to look into the demands. State Minister for Health and Family Welfare UT Khader spoke on the role of Christian institutions in the field of education.
Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore, presided over the function. JR Lobo, BA Mohideen Bava, MLAs of Mangalore South and North respectively, Rachana President Ivan D’Souza, John Monteiro and others were present.
