Mangalore : A total of 69 out of the 71 candidates who contested the assembly elections from the district have submitted the declaration of expenditure to the Election Commission. If Yogish Bhat, BJP candidate from Mangalore South spent the highest i/e Rs 13.50 lakhs for campaigning, t he next highest spender was BJP’s Ranjan Gowda spent a sum of Rs 11.54 lakhs followed by JR Lobo, the Congress candidate from the same constituency who spent Rs 10.80 lakhs.
JD(S) candidate from Mangalore North Gulam Mohammad and Republic Party of India candidate from Bantwal Lolaksha have not declared their election expenditure.
The election commission had fixed an upper limit of Rs 16 lakh for expenditure. Ramanatha Rai of Congress from Bantwal had spent Rs 8.40 lakhs while Rajesh Naik, his opponent Rs 6.97 lakhs,
Mangalore North Congress candidate Moidin Bava spent Rs 9.76 lakhs.
