Mysore : That as many as 11 temples in the state were practicing the controversial Made Made Snana ritual, was pointed out at a round table conference held to discuss the issue at Mysore recently.
Participants at the meeting were highly critical of the Pejawar seer for his stance on the ritual and demanded that the practice be put to an end at the earliest.
GV Srirama Reddy, State Secretary of CPI(M) who spoke at the conference organised by the CPI(M) and Karnataka Rajya Hindulida Vargagala Jagruti Vedike disclosed that a survey conducted by the party revealed that 11 more temples practice ‘made snana’ and added that almost all temples have ‘pankti beda’.He said Dalits should be allowed to have food along with Brahmins in Mutts and added it was only then caste based discrimination will end and not when a seer stays in a Dalit’s house
He requested the people to oppose inhuman practices and clarified that the fight was only against social discrimination.
