14.06.10 Bangalore : A large and imposing building called EMS Bhawan was opened on Monday in Bangalore, by V.S. Achyuthanandan, Kerala CM who spoke on the occasion that it was a tribute to the great visionary and first non- Congress CM in India of Kerala, EMS Namboodiripad, built at a cost of Rs. 1 crore on his 101st Birthday. VSA described EMS as a leader who propelled the human resources quality in Kerala to a world class, as a flag – bearer of social transformation. The Bhawan auditorium can hold 200 persons, and has 7 rooms including 2 guest rooms, a reading room, and a dormitory, with a plaza outside the main hall.
It houses the editorial (Malayalee) office of ‘Jana Shakti’ a CPI (M) weekly, with enough working space. 4 social studies courses were inaugurated today in the name of AK Gopalan, late leader of AI Kisan Sabha, based on Karnataka workers in several fields, Gopalan guided several peasant struggles moving about in the country and Karnataka in his time, when EMS led a communist govt in Kerala.
