Mangalore: A religious meet held as part of the three-day Ramotsava celebrations at Nehru Maidan in Mangalore, which began on April 19, Friday, was inaugurated by Sri Rajashekharananda Swamiji of Vajradehi Mutt, Gurupur. The function was held under the auspices of Vishwa Hindu Parishath, Bajrang Dal, Matramandali, Durgavahini and Sri Ramotsava Samithi.
Blessing the occasion, the Vajradehi seer said there is a need fo the society to emulate the ideals of Lord Sri Ram. He pointed out that the present day society saw many Ravanas in the form of politicians.
MB Puranik, VHP leader who also spoke on the occasion, said this is the 12th year when Ram Navami was being celebrated in Mangalore. Kumble Sunder Rao, former MLA, Pushparaj Jain, President of the Ramotsava Samithi and several other leaders were present.
