Mangaluru : Endo Virodhi Horata Samiti president Shridhar Gowda said that the statement by Food and Civil Supplies Minister U T Khader on Endosulfan victims is laughable. The minister had said that the Endosulfan victims should not sleep on streets and no petty politics should be done with Endo victims.
Addressing reporters at Patrika Bhavan in Mangaluru on Wednesday, Gowda said that whenever the Endosulfan victims stage united fights, the minister has been making similar statements. Khader had earlier assured that the victims in Karnataka will be provided better package than the victims in Kerala. But now, he is delivering irresponsible statements, he said.
The minister should clarify how many families had children with disabilities after getting compensation from the Kerala government. Gowda said that people from all political parties had taken part in the hunger strike held in Kokkada recently. The elected representatives who had promised of raising the demands of the victims during the assembly session, have forgotten their assurance, he said.
“This time, the Assembly session will be held from June 4. We will wait till June 7. If there is no favourable development till then, a fast unto death protest will be held in front of the DC’s office from June 8,” Gowda said.
