Mangalore: The Human Rights Protection Foundation, Udupi has conducted a study on Endosulphan toxicity for the last 20years and found cases in Karnataka affecting health, and providing disability in Karnataka are worse off and in greater numbers than in Kerala.
In Puttur, Bantwal and Belthangady taluks, a survey revealed 6,000 people were suffering from Endo effects in various degrees of physical disability. R. Shanbagh of the Human Resource Foundation stated that he had submitted a list of these patients to State Disability Commission.
He said 25,000 children were exposed to the killer drug, not banned by Govt., yet. He asked the Govt. to make medical tests on all people enlisted.
Women and Child Development Department mentioned of 4,000 pregnant women affected by the drug. They should be scanned by ultrasound within 20 weeks, Shanbagh demanded or aborted.
