Mangaluru : Vaibhav Shetty, a 20-year-old engineering student from Chilimbi, died and his friend Prateek, a BBM student, sustained injury on the road leading to Tannirbhavi on Monday evening.

The Surathkal police said that Vaibhav Shetty, a student of Sahyadri College, was driving the motorcycle and Prateek was riding pillion. Vaibhav Shetty lost control over the vehicle and both fell off.

Vaibhav, who was not wearing a helmet, died on the spot. Prateek has been admitted to a private hospital nearby, the police said.
