Karkala : In yet another case of drowning, an engineering student  who had been to swim along with his friends at Jomlu Theertha in  Chara , has been reported drowned on October 26, Friday.  The deceased is Gladson D’Silva(20) from Karkada in Saligrama, a third year engineering student of Canara Engineering College.

It is learnt, the mishap took place when Gladson along with four friends had been to Sita River for a swim. Reports say when the friends were having snacks, Gladson entered the water, but slipped and drowned.  The efforts made by his friends to save him proved futile.

Reports said Gladson,a meritorious student, hailed from a poor family and has left behind his parents and two sisters. This is the tenth eventuality in Jomlu Theertha over the years. Hebri police are conducting the investigations.
