Udupi : The members of the Raitha Sangha staged a protest in front of the DC’s office due to the cancellation of meeting organised by expert committee scheduled to discuss UPCL problems today.

The farmers staged a protest because the DC refused to come out and explain the reasons for the cancellation of the meeting.

Even though the police requested two representatives to speak to the DC in his chamber, the protestors refused saying that the UPCL is creating problems for everybody in Udupi and urgded the DC to come out and explain the reason for cancellation of meeting.

Finally, DC Dr. M. T. Reju came out said that the meeting will be definitely held before Oct 31. Although they quietened down, they demanded to close down the UPCL unit till the government solves their problems.

Vijay Hegde, Madhav Shetty, and Shashidhar Shetty were among those who protested.
