Mangalore : NITTE Celebration Mangalore in association with Life is Calling Sports will organize a 1/2 Marathon & 10K at Panambur Beach on January 29, Sunday.
Speaking at the press meet held at Hotel Saffron on Jan 5, Thursday Dr Rajashekar of Nitte University unveiled the logo and the Official Sponsor of the NITTE Celebration Mangalore ½ Marathon & 10K is NITTE Education Trust, one of the pioneering Educational Institutions in Dakshina Kannada District, Karnataka. The Institution offers Medical, Dental, Engineering, Management, Physiotherapy, Nursing, Pharmacy, Hotel Management, Speech and Hearing, Medical Lab Technology, Graduation, Pre-University Courses and runs a host of schools besides having the Charitable Hospital K.S.Hegde Hospital a 715-bed multispecialty hospital where health care facility is provided at affordable cost benefitting people of Dakshina Kannada district and parts of Kerala.
Yathish Baikampady, CEO of Panambur Beach Tourism Development Project released the pamphlet and said that the Marathon is being held with the support of Panambur Beach Tourism Development Project, a private enterprise entrusted with the responsibility of managing the Panambur Beach
The event has both competitive and non-competitive running categories. The 21Kms Half Marathon & 10 Kms are in the competitive category and 5 Kms Celebration Run/Walk in the non-competitive category.
The top 3 winners in the Open Category for 21Kms Half Marathon Men and Women will receive prize money of Rs.30,000, Rs.20,000, Rs.15, 000 for first, second and third respectively.
The event will also give the prize money of Rs.10, 000 each for Men & Women-Above 50 Years in the Senior Category.

There is also a special prize for Runners from Dakshina Kannada District participating in 21Kms Half Marathon. The top 3 winners (Men & Women) will be awarded with Rs.10,000, Rs.7,500 and Rs.5,000 respectively.
The top 3 winners in the Open Category for 10 Kms Run Men & Women will receive prize of Rs.15,000, Rs.10,000 and Rs.5, 000 respectively.
The men and women in the senior category will receive Rs. 7,500 each as the first place winner. There is also a special prize for Runners from Dakshina Kannada District participating in 10Kms Run. The top 3 winners (Men & Women) will be awarded with
Rs.7,500, Rs.5,000 and Rs.2, 500 respectively.
If a runner from Dakshina Kannada district emerges in the top 3 position in the Open Category, they will be awarded prizes under both Open Category and Special Prize Category.
All the runners in the 21Kms Half Marathon & 10Kms run will receive a medal at the finishing line. All the participants in the 5Kms Celebration Run/Walk will be given participation certificate, which can be downloaded from www.celebrationrun.com
Timing chips will be used to time the runners in the 21 Kms Half Marathon and 10 Kms Run. The runners can download their timing certificates from www.celebrationrun.com
