Mangalore: There was a misunderstanding created at district Congress party office on Saturday July 28, the formal function was organized to give a warm welcome to former MCC commissioner J R Lobo’s entry into the party.
Prior to the formal function, there was a physical fight and clashes among the party workers leaders in relate to the mike issue.
Reportedly, former mayor Ashraf began loudly demanded for a mike since the voice of compere Sadashiv was not audible, then soon the party workers joined and began clash in the groups. Ashraf and P V Mohan pushed each other and throwing the chairs. Finally MLA Ramanath Rai stood up and evaded the crowd and made them silent and made way to continue the ceremony.
Later speaking at the press meet after joining Congress party held at District Congress Office on July 28, Saturday J R Lobo, said that party leaders can take their work forward only if the party workers support them wholeheartedly.
He also said that he was impressed by the party’s work for the poor and underprivileged; hence joined Congress and did not get any offer from any other party.
Speaking for opting for the lower position, he said that even in the higher position I have to work and here as activists too I will work for party development too, he said.
In the democracy, the party must be strong and will assure to work for the party sincerely. I joined the party not for any position, but if we work hard for the party, we will get an opportunity to receive top most position.
Speaking on the clash, he said that Ramanath Rai said that it is a minor issue and was normal in any party.
Speaking on JR Lobo’s entry in party, he said that J R Lobo was a congress man from long time, but now he chose to work as the activists, after sacrificing the government job.
Commenting on his meeting with Rahul Gandhi, he said that Meeting the leader was his dream come true in the life time as a part leader. He said that he just went to meet him with a wish, but Gandhi showed love and respect towards all the MLA’s, he said.
Ivan D’Souza, Shashidhar Hegde, Mayor Gulzar Banu and others were present at the press meet.
Speaking on the sidelines, Praveen Chandra Alva said that the senior leaders do not ask or inform the members and presidents of various wings of party, like women’s wing, minority wing, youth wing and other before taking any one into the party.
He said that we don’t want such people in the party and we will work for the development with unity.
