Mangaluru: As per the Supreme Court orders the Central and state governments should pay equal salary for equal work, urged MESCOM contract basis workers in a protest staged in front of MESCOM head office at Bejai on Saturday.

Addressing the protestors CITU State Vice-President Vasanth Achari said that the SC has clearly said that those whose job description is equal, they should be paid equal. But both the governments are not considering this order.

“The governments’ negligence has proved fatal for lakhs of contract basis workers,” he said.

CITU district General Secretary Sunil Kumar Bajal alleged that contract based workers are forced to work more than working hours and they are paid less.

MESCOM contract basis workers association office bearers and others were present.
