Udupi : Senior writer Erya Lakshminarayana Alva said that there is a fera that Tulu folk wealth may be endangered if the proposed Niddodi thermal project became a reality.
He was speaking at a programme organised by the District unit of Janapada Parishat and Karnataka Janapada Sarvekshana Kendra on ‘ Challenges of folk research’ at the Jagannath Bhavan of Badagubettu Co-operative Bank on August 18, Sunday.
The mega projects would wreak havoc on the district and may have a detrimental effect on folk culture, he said. The already existing projects itself are doing harm and any more projects are unwelcome, he said.
Indira Balakrishna, Managing Trustee of Karnataka Janapada Parishat was honoured on the occasion. T Timmegowda, President of the Parishat, Jayaprakash Gowda, Member, Dr Gananath Ekkar, President of Udupi Taluk unit of Janapada Parishat and others were present.
