Bangalore : A day after the Lokayukta police raided his residence, Deputy Chief Minister K S Eshwarappa claimed on Tuesday that the raids have dispelled all confusion from the minds of people on the extent of his assets.
Speaking to reporters here, he claimed that the assets (including cash and jewellery) seized during the raids match what he has already declared in an affidavit before the Karnataka Lokayukta this year. “There is nothing to hide and except for hype, the raids have not yielded anything much,” he said.
On the issue of his resignation — demanded by opposition parties — Eshwarappa said: “Whoever has any faith in the institution of Lokayukta will not demand my resignation. Now that the raids are over and the Lokayukta police have not found anything, will the opposition parties continue to demand my resignation?”
He added that the raids had proved beyond a doubt, that the disproportionate assets case was nothing but a conspiracy against him. Claiming that he has not caused his party and the government any embarrassment, Eshwarappa said that he will soon expose the private individual on whose complaint the Lokayukta has been conducting the investigation. -DH News
