Bangalore: All over the state, in 37 valuation centres opened in colleges, 15,000 lecturers of Pre-University classes have abstained from the evaluation of answer scripts they received, by observing a ban from April 13, Friday, seeking equal pay for their additional work from the ruling (BJP) government, although they have no right to strike their work, like Trade union workers, in the garb of college teachers.
They assembled in Freedom Park in city on Friday and decided to continue their Satyagraha(pressure for just demands) Until their current demands were fully met, throwing the Education minister and the Government in a major dilemma.
The Government has not honoured its own promises made so far, the teachers pointed out in hurt. On the basis of a recent promise by the Education Minister, the evaluators started the work on April 9.
But minister, the evaluators started the work to CM for a solution, before April 13. Obviously, the angry teachers went on a snap strike for an indefinite period, banning PUC evaluations, Shakeel Ahmed, Gen. Secretary of their Union told pressmen on Friday here.
The CM has asked the strikers to with draw their work ban.
