Bangalore: Water Resources Minister Basava Bommai today indicated that his govt., had plans to draw excess Nethravathi river waters in Yettinahole towards Chikkaballapur and Kolar, for people to use them as drinking water. The districts are draught affected, he pointed out.
Replying to a question from a Congress MLA, Bommai said at Yettinahole, a tributary to Nethravathi, the waters in excess flow would be diverted to the parched areas of eastern Karnataka, such as Kolar.
A Technical Feasibility report on the matter had been prepared to provide water to 6 districts. The draft report is under active consideration of the state Govt to provide excess drinking water from the west-flowing rivers, to eastern areas that need them, the minister told N.Sampangi in the Assembly today.
