Kundapur : Excise officials led by District Excise DC George Pinto, have seized heroin worth nearly Rs 2 crores  in a raid  on a hotel at Hemmady on April 18, Thursday. Three persons namely  Divakar Devadiga (39) of Shirali in Bhatkal, Sudhir Hegde (29), a resident of Kharvi Madhyakeri, Kundapur and another person from Belgaum have been arrested.

Police have also seized three mobile phones from the arrested. It is suspected that the heroin was brought from Bangalore by a person from Mangalore. It is suspected that it was supposed to be handed over to a person from Belgaum.

The authorities are presently on the lookout for the mastermind of this racket. Several officials including  Kundapur excise circle inspector A P Shankar Poojary, sub-inspector Shubhada, Kundapur tahsildar Thippeswamy were part of the raiding team.
