Mangalore : The Mother Express, an exhibition train to commemorate the birth centenary of Mother Teresa, arrived in Mangalore on Thursday, December 16.
The Exhibition inside the train was inaugurated at the Sealdah railway station in West Bengal by Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee on August 26.
The “Mother Express”, is expected to go round India to familiarize local Catholics with Teresa’s Missionary deeds in Kolkota when she was alive and launched as part of the centenary celebration of the nun by the Indian Railways. Speaking after inaugurating the exhibition in Mangalore Railway Station, when the exhibition reached here, S K Raina, Divisional Railway Manager Phalghat said that this kind of exhibition will encourage the people to know the great work and achievements of the great woman. Further the photogrphs displayed in the exhibition will encourage the future generations to serve the common people of India, in years to come. The exhibition will last for two days ( Dec.16-17)
He also said that, the last train exhibition depicting Tagore’s life has has given full description of his life and achievements and it will be useful for the general public.
G Prabhakar, area officer, K P Damodhar, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Neela Muttha Manikam, Divisional engineer, Raju, Divisional Security Commandant, Rev Fr Alwin Serrao, of Roshni Nilaya Degree College and Frena Pinto, correspondent, were present on the occasion.
