Udupi: “To inspect the quality of states stadiums, a team of states reputed engineer college professors and retired government engineers will be formed. The team will consist of five members,” said sports and youth affair Minister Pramod Mahwaraj.
He was speaking after inaugurating Mangaluru University inter collegiate badminton championship tournament at Ajjarakadu stadium organised by Dr G Shankar government first Grade College and post graduation centre, Sports department and Mangaluru University, on Saturday.
“It is found that the cost of construction work of some of the stadiums in the state is more than the construction work of international stadiums. The cost has increased, but not the quality. So, to decrease the cost and increase the quality of the stadiums, a team will be formed,” he said.
He further said that the committee will visit all the stadiums of this state and collect the data’s of the quality, cost, approved fund as well as the report of construction work. After receiving the report from the committee further course of action will be decided.
“AC will be installed in Udupi’s indoor stadium at the cost of Rs 98 lakh and for synthetic mat for the badminton court Rs 31 lakh will be spent,” he informed.
Udupi and DK fisheries federation President Yashpal Suvarna, College Principal Jagadeesh Rao, Sports department Assistant Director Dr Roshan Kumar and others were present.
