Mangalore : Several passengers travelling in a Mangalore bound private express bus were injured when the bus collided head on with a lorry near the Mukka checkpost on June 30, Sunday evening.

The accident occurred when the bus driver tried to overtake another vehicle and hit against an oncoming lorry. The legs of the lorry driver were caught  beneath the vehicle parts and he was brought out of the vehicle with great difficulty. Both his legs were injured in the mishap.

The bus driver had fled the scene of the accident. The passengers who sustained injured have been hospitalized.

The recklessness of the bus driver is said to be the reason for the accident. Suratkal police have registered a case.
