Mangalore: The Bangalore-Mangalore railway express train will take a turn from Mangalore Kankanady junction towards Karwar in a few days. Railway minister Mamata Bannerjee has agreed to turn the Yeshwantpur (Bangalore)-Mangalore Junction express day train to Karwar and not the night passenger, so the sleep will take place in Mangalore and not Bangalore, on way. The train does not come to Mangalore Central station, for fear of Malayalee passengers rushing into occupy seats, it seems.
The official time table is available with a Manipal daily paper. The train starts from Karwar at 5.30am (morning) and reaches Mangalore Junction 5.30 hours later at 11am. Here the engine is changed and the train pushes on to reach Yeshwantpur at night by 11pm. The train starts from Yeshwantpur at 7.30am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays to Mangalore and Karwar. All 14 bogies reach Karwar as per decision taken in a meeting of the Railway Board on April 4.
