Mangalore: There was a time under the British even up to 1950 when south India was one single Madras Province, with DK at the west end of it, when lawyers having cases to placed in Madras high count, used to eatch trains going to Madras (say Mail or Express) and return after the cases are argued in MHC.
The time is coming round now, when Chennai (or Madras) central and Mangalore are getting connecting by an express train (Mail train are no more) everyday.
This is a blessing as we are still under Southern Railway, through the Palghat (Palakkad) division, all these 65 years.
From August 20/21, express train will be daily services between Mangalore central and Madras central, a Railway release in informed on Monday, owing to changes in advance booking (reservation) period extended to 120 days (4months)
A train connecting Mangalore (Mangalapuram) to Puducherry (French Pondicherry) on Tuesday and Monday, will leave from August 17-18 on Friday (from Puducherry) and Saturday (from Mangalore), the same release noted.
