Mangalore : A minor girl from Mangalore who eloped with an 18-year-old Facebook friend, was found in Alapuzha in Kerala was brought back to Mangalore.
According to police, the minor girl, daughter of a labourer residing at Capitanio locality went missing since Saturday. Before she went missing girl had revealed about her love with Jerry Francis (18) and was going with him.
The girl had also threatened to commit suicide if the parents stopped her or went to police. However girls’ parents approached the Mangalore Rural police and lodged a complaint on Sunday.
During the inquiry, police found that girl had befriended Francis on Facebook around a year ago and had regular contact over the phone but after they eloped their mobile got switched off.
A team of officials led by inspector Rajesh tracked their mobile phone signals and traced them to Alapuzha. The officials visited Alapuzha and brought the girl back to Mangalore.
The police also registered kidnapping case against Francis and remanded him to judicial custody. The boys is said to be working as a welder after failing in the class 10 examinations. Francis is well-versed in computer and speaks fluent English.
It is said that Francis had come to Mangalore on Saturday and took the girl to Alapuzha. During the medical examination it was revealed that girl has been subjected sexual assault. Hence he will be booked for rape too, a senior police.
