Mangalore: ‘Water, Water, everywhere, but not a drop to drink, ‘was the Wailing song in DK district in city and towns like Bantwal till yesterday. But the three coastal districts of DK, Udupi and Kasaragod (now in Kerala) had thunders and lightning with winds to accompany good showers on Thursday and Friday, to wipe out deficits in Thumbe reservoir levels, and to make peace with ONGC’ s sulking MRPL unit.

The hill district of Kodagu where rivers had evaporated, also had plenty of rains to take away heat and create shudders of chill at night, as in DK.

Subrahmanya and Sullia, the dense forest areas as usual received solid rains, and in other places fairly good rains fell, to reduce temperature that was going up in many small boiling towns under perspiration.

It was a welcome sign that Thumbe vented dam was made full(13 ft of water) by divine intervention, and MRPL got back its normal waters quota of 5 MGD a day from  Thursday, gleefully.

After the fracas in Bantwal Taluk office and Town Council office on Friday, there were rains in the evening to end Congress-BJP tussles over Water shortage there.

Vitla had 90 minutes of rain. Suratkal got good Showers .

The entire West Coast in state was Swept away and cleaned with sanitary rains in a dozen places.

In Kerala, entire Kasargod district received good showers. Kinnigoli and Mulky in DK had evening baths in the Tulunadu. Bajpe was flooded. MRPL told DK-DC that Thumbe had enough water now to last 200 days.
