Mangalore: Following a complaint from the renowned Mumbai giant, Hindustan Lever Company, that their brand names were copied by other small traders for duplicate cosmetic items, Bunder Police went to Dubai market near Lady Goschen Hospital, and seized false items under reputed brand names from 2 shops there, and registered cases against owners of these fake makers (cosmetics) firms, by name S.S. Purohit and Arjun Desai.

Most of the fake things for sale were shampoo, body lotions, de-odorants, face powder and perfumes, police stated.
The Police raids have captured all the items kept for sale, which were of local make. Goods worth Rs.1.62 lakhs were recovered from Pooja Cosmetics, and Beauty World.
The investigation into the sources of production is continuing.
