Bangalore : The Cottonpet Police burst a fake credit card racket and arrested nine persons, who allegedly created fake credit cards and purchased gold ornaments using them. Police recovered 219 fake credit cards.
The accused are Prakash, 34, Afsar Rehman, 21, Jayakumar, 39, Wasim Pasha, 25, Goutam, 36, Lokesh, 33, Matheen Ahamad, 37, Megharaj alias Raja, 27 and Ravi, 29.
According to the police, the accused were arrested when they were in their car. They revealed that they used to get details of account holders of International banks and obtained their account numbers, PIN and other details through internet. One of the accused Goutam used to download the details of cards and send it to Jayakumar. Based on those numbers Jayakumar used to create fake cards. Using them, the other accused shopped gold jewels and other items.
