Mangalore : In a counterfeit currency passage case Suratkal police have arrested two persons on Sunday January 19 night.
Sushanth Mandel (20) and Sharath Mandel (19) from Malda district of West Bengal, was arrested for involvement of counterfeit currency distribution.
City police commissioner R. Hitendra said in a press conference, they took a house on rent at Katipalla on Friday January 17, the police found 81 counterfeit notes of Rs 1,000 denomination and 23 counterfeit notes of Rs 500 denomination, the accused had collected the amount of Rs 40,420 from several shops, by circulating the fake notes.
The serial numbers of the fake notes that were found 5GR, 8GQ, 3DV, 6AR, 1CG, 5KF, 1EQ, 4KM, 5TC, 3TE, 9HR, 7DD, 2CH, 9FC and 2FR. Police have filed a case under 489(B) and (C) of IPC against the accused.
The police have seized Rs 1000 denomination 81 notes and of Rs 500 denomination 23 fake notes from the couple.
