Mangalore : The house belonging to Joseph Martis at Pumpwell caught fire on Feb 3 Friday at around 11:00 p.m having the narrow escape of the family.

Mr. Martis, an engineer by profession, who had kept water on a firewood stove, reached the roof when it became intense.

The family were unaware of the fire untill some paying guests observed it and informed them.

The family immediately came out of the house, but unfortunately half the house was destroyed by the fire. Fire fighting prsonnels who rushed to the spot brought the fire under control.

The Kadri police have registered a case.
