Karkala : Four people of a family allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a well at Mudaru in Bajagoli, coming under Karkala rural police station limits on Aug 25, Monday.

The deceased have been identified as Jaya Madiwala (45), his wife Gulabi (35) and children Harshitha (6) and Manvith (2).

According to police, Jaya Madiwala was a coolie worker and was addicted to alcohol. Due to this the family had frequent fights. The matter becomes worse on the fight took place on Sunday night that, forced the family to take an extreme step to commit suicide.

Fire Department officials under the leadership of Inspector Naveen retrieved the bodies from the well.

A case has been registered in Karkala rural police station.
