Mangaluru : “Spending time together during dinner or while visiting religious places will improve good relation among the family members and growing teenagers. The quality time parents spend with teenagers provide an opportunity for them to communicate their doubt and understand family principles and values” opined, Dr.Supriya Hegde. Professor of Psychiatry, at Father Mullers Medical College, Mangalore. She was speaking at the Parent Teacher Association meet of Besant Women’s College, held on Saturday.
She said , the parents must have faith in their teenage children they must restrained from nagging and pressurizing them but must encourage them with patient and good listening when they come up with problems and doubts. Relationship are become a very common matter in todays world but parent must tackle the problem without hurting the sentiments of the child. Quoting examples from her counseling sessions she said teenagers now need more independence and discussion making opportunities.
The college principal Dr. Sudha K , who spoken the occasion explained different crash and certificate courses newly introduced in the college and sought P.T.A support during the forthcoming NAAC Assessment.
